Hex-Beam Portable Series

The HEX-PAC (portable) beam is identical to the standard HEX-BEAM in performance, but is designed for portability and versatility. It is collapsible, very lightweight, and becomes a mono-bander on 6-10-12-15-17 or 20M. Its sectional arms are designed to allow the beam to shrink or grow as needed for the chosen band of operation. The HEX-PAC is ideal for travel/DX-pedition use. It provides performance comparable with that of much larger conventional beams. This system is quickly deployed and very affordable. No tuning is required. You are "on-the-air" in minutes with real mono-band performance on any one of the bands in a single 13 lb. package! (See FO0MAC, KA4IST/KH5, N9SW - user newsline.) The HXP beam is rated at 1500W for 14-30mHz.

Structurally, the HEX-PAC is built around a 3.25" aluminum hub that is machined from solid bar stock. The antenna's center support/mast passes through it, and the its 6 sectional arms are inserted into side sockets. HEX-PAC arms are made of filament-wound glass epoxy. A silver/Teflon® SO-239 is provided for the feed-point. A UV-resistant dielectric is used for the HEX-PAC insulators and tip fittings. High tensile strength UV-resistant line is used for non-element spans. Radiating elements are made of the same stranded hard-drawn #14 copper wire that is used in standard HEX-BEAMs. Element end fittings are designed for fast, simple attachment.

The HEX-PAC weighs 7 lbs. 5 oz. when set up for 20M. The collapsed beam and 6 BAND-PACsTM stow in an optional 6" x 43" custom tote bag. Pockets are provided to organize and store all components. It is zippered and has a carrying strap for back-packing. Travel weight for the complete 6-band package including tote bag is 13 lbs. The only tools needed for assembly or band-change are a #1 Phillips screwdriver, 7/16" open end wrench, and 5/16" wrench. A measuring tape is recommended for initial setup.
